BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — In what was shaping up to be an exciting March week for the surprising, hell-on-wheels Marshall basketball team, that team picked a bad half to revert to early-season form.
That was the first half Friday of the Conference USA semifinals against Middle Tennessee. The Thundering Herd suffered its lowest-scoring 20 minutes in three months, then never recovered in a 99-90 setback at Legacy Arena.
The Herd fell behind by 10, 39-29. The last time Marshall failed to hit 30 in a half came on Dec. 4 against Akron, when the Herd managed just 22 points before the intermission.
