HUNTINGTON — Players may tell you they’re not into statistics, but Marshall receiver Deon-Tay McManus knows one of numbers must improve.
He caught 35 passes last year, fourth on the squad, but tallied just 334 yards in the process. That works out to 9.5 yards per catch from the “Z” position.
That should be better, more like the 16.2-yard average of his freshman season of 2014. After his successful shift from below the tight-end depth chart that year, he caught six touchdown passes. Last year, just one.
It’s not hard to figure where he might pick up some extra yards.
