Marshall's Austin Loop has hot hand from 3-point line

As Marshall’s whip-it-around offense evolves, Austin Loop has noticed one thing: He seems to get more open with every game, even every shot.

His rising 3-point percentage shows it.

The 6-foot-4 senior from South Webster, Ohio, entered the season shooting 39.3 percent for his career from long range, and is beating that by nine percentage points after nine games — 48.4 percent.

As the Thundering Herd (6-3) prepares to take on Akron (7-3) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on the road, Loop is hitting more than 50 percent over the previous seven games. More and more, when the ball gets in his hands, the defense is already beaten.
