HUNTINGTON — Oh, what a difference two days makes!
The Marshall Thundering Herd women’s team could not make baskets in a 71-63 loss to North Texas on Thursday, hitting just 18-of-57 (31.6%) and 4-of-23 from three (17.4%).
On Saturday at the Cam Henderson Center, it was a different Marshall and a different result with another Lone Star State team, as the Herd rolled over Rice in an 81-52 win — Marshall’s biggest win as a member of the league and the most dominating win since the Lady Herd of Coach Judy Southard beat Western Carolina in the Southern Conference 75-45 in March of 1991 (thanks to HI Editor Jack Bogaczyk for that stat, and see more in his story on today’s The Thundering Word story here at herdinsider.
