EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP women’s basketball team outscored visiting Marshall 30-10 in the second quarter to take a 15-point halftime lead en route to an 84-74 win Saturday afternoon in the Don Haskins Center. The Miners improved to 6-14 overall and 3-5 in Conference USA, while the Thundering Herd fell to 12-8 and 4-5 in league play.
Marshall was led by sophomore Shayna Gore’s 26 points (three off her career-high of 29), while senior Kiana Evans had 11 points and freshman Asheika Alexander added 10 points and seven rebounds. Fellow frosh Ashley Saintigene posted a team-high eight rebounds, two points, two blocks and a steal.
