In the travel-partner system of scheduling used in Conference USA and other leagues, Marshall and Western Kentucky run in the same circles.
In the spirit of reducing travel costs and burdens, the league uses a Thursday-Saturday format. Last week, Marshall played at Middle Tennessee on Thursday and at Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday.
Meanwhile, WKU also tackled what appears to be the league’s toughest road trip, venturing to UAB first and then to MTSU. The Thundering Herd (11-8, 4-2) and Hilltoppers (9-10, 3-3) played in different cities on each given night, but the result was the same.
They got belted in both games.
