HUNTINGTON — James Kelly scored 27 points and Marshall flirted with 60 percent shooting Sunday afternoon in running away from Western Kentucky 94-76 at Cam Henderson Center.
The Herd, alternating between scoring in transition and firing 11 3-point goals, led by as many as 26 points in beating the Hilltoppers in the Conference USA opener for both teams.
It is the third straight season MU (5-9, 1-0) has beaten the Hilltoppers (8-6) at home, and this came in dazzling style that left visiting coach Ray Harper writhing in agony.
The Herd settled for shooting 52.1 percent from the floor, but that wasn’t the astounding number.
