Marshall strangest games, No. 10: Loss to UCF was beginning of the end for Snyder

WITH THE exception of Labor Day weekend, college football games should never be played on Sunday night.

But that was the figurative price paid by Conference USA in 2009 to get a few games on ESPN. Such a game goes up against Sunday night NFL, but that’s not really the consequence.

With a Sunday game, the atmosphere is blah and tailgating is light at best. The 8:15 p.m. start against Central Florida in Orlando — possibly MU’s latest ever relative to local time — was torture.
