DENTON, Texas — Having worn out three Conference USA opponents at home, Marshall went to the state of Texas and ran roughshod over another foe Thursday night, beating North Texas 97-78.
It wasn’t nearly that close, as the Thundering Herd jumped on the Mean Green early, taking a 61-33 halftime lead and bumping the margin to 33 points twice. A late NT run kept the Herd from winning a road game by 20 points for the first time since February 2010. Still, there were several milestones set.
The Herd scored 90 points for the fourth game in a row for the first time since December 1996 (against Morehead State, West Virginia, North Carolina-Asheville and Tennessee-Chattanooga).
