The Thundering Herd (12-12, 8-3 Conference USA) also received double-digit scoring efforts from guard Austin Loop (17) and forward Ryan Taylor (10). Kelly led Marshall with nine rebounds. Marshall made 18 3-pointers, one shy of the all-time school record of 19.
For the Roadrunners (4-20, 2-9 C-USA), Christian Wilson scored a game-high 29 points while teammate Ryan Bowie finished with 26.
