Marshall notebook: Road jitters out of the way for newcomers

HUNTINGTON — When Marshall takes on Cincinnati this Saturday at Nippert Stadium, roughly 17 players will be participating in their second road game in a Thundering Herd uniform.

Will it make a difference in the result against the Bearcats? Maybe, maybe not, but it won’t hurt — not when those newcomers played before 57,000 two weeks earlier.

The Herd lost that game to North Carolina State, 37-20, but several new faces played well at times. While Tyree Brady (248 receiving yards) played before large crowds when he was a Miami Hurricane, others were new at it. That includes linebacker Artis Johnson (three tackles for loss), Brandon Drayton (three tackles, one pass breakup) and Marcel Williams (four catches, 46 yards).
