Marshall men's basketball tops Western Carolina

HUNTINGTON — An 18-2 run to begin the second half propelled the Marshall men’s basketball team to its first 3-0 start in two years.

The Thundering Herd (3-0) knocked off Western Carolina 98-63 Saturday inside the Cam Henderson Center after a lackluster defensive effort in the first half.

“We were kind of flat the first half,” junior guard Jon Elmore said. “The ball stuck a lot and we weren’t running our stuff to a ‘T’ like we usually do.”

“That ball has got to go,” Herd coach Dan D’Antoni said. “Our guards have to be the ones who perpetuate that.
