Jon Elmore scored 32 points and Austin Loop added 20 as Marshall hung on to defeat Western Kentucky 84-79 Saturday night at E.A. Diddle Arena.
The Thundering Herd (14-11, 7-5 Conference USA) survived a rally by the Hilltoppers (12-13, 6-6) that cut a 23-point lead all the way to three. The Hilltoppers had the ball with a chance to tie in the final half-minute, but Que Johnson threw up a wild 3-point attempt while trying to draw a foul.
Elmore made two free throws with 15 seconds left to finally seal the issue and complete the Herd’s season sweep over WKU.
