HUNTINGTON — Is it game week yet?
No, it is not. Not at Marshall, anyway.
The Thundering Herd and California have the week off, but the Golden Bears were allowed to get a jump on the season last week by playing Hawaii in Sydney, Australia.
So that leaves Marshall as the only team who will not have opened its season by Monday night.
The Sept. 10 opener at home against Morgan State is the latest the Herd has started its season since Sept. 12, 1981, when Sonny Randle’s team battled Morehead State.
“It’s the first time in all my years playing and coaching of not starting on that opening weekend,” coach Doc Holliday said Monday.
