Marshall’s football program has added six “blueshirt” players this summer, some who could fill pressing needs on the depth chart.
The players are taking classes this summer and are earmarked to go on scholarship this fall. All will count in the overall limit of 85 scholarships, but will not be counted against this season’s class of initial scholarships. Instead, they will count against the 2017 class.
One more twist to the “blueshirt:” They were not “recruited” by the traditional definition — they never took an official visit to MU and coaches did not make an in-home visit.
