ATHENS, Ohio – It was a game made for St. Patrick’s Day, with the Thundering Herd dressed in its Kelly Green uniforms and Ohio in white trimmed in its Hunter Green. But the most important color on this day was an Ohio senior guard named Kiyanna Black, who would score 32 points and 8-of-17 threes to lead the Bobcats to a win over the Thundering Herd in the WNIT first round.
Marshall fought hard from a 14-point hole in the first quarter to get a one-point lead on a number of occasions, but the closest the Herd got to the Ohio Bobcats was within two points in the second half in a 76-68 loss to Ohio at Ohio’s Convocation Center in front of a crowd in Kelly and Hunter as well of 1,172 – the 11th best crowd of the season to catch the Thundering Herd and 12th best for the Bobcats.
