HUNTINGTON — Project Defense has gotten off to a credible start for the free-wheeling Marshall basketball team.

As the Thundering Herd prepares for its upcoming game Wednesday against Morehead State, it is building on its effort last weekend in an 81-69 win over North Carolina Central.

The Herd was effective on the defensive end in both halves, but in different ways. Before halftime, the Eagles had trouble shooting; in the second half, the Herd forced those wanted live-ball turnovers it turns into rapid-fire baskets.

“I know the first half [the Eagles] shot 30 and 29 percent [from the floor, 3-point range],” said MU coach Dan D’Antoni.
