For such a historic day in the Marshall baseball program, it seemed so workmanlike.
Take a five-hit complete game from Chase Boster, mix in four RBIs from the No. 6 batter in the lineup, add an errorless afternoon and — voila! — you have a 5-3 win Thursday over Old Dominion, the Thundering Herd’s school-record-breaking 31st victory of the season.
The win was also the 20th in the minefield that is Conference USA. Entering later games Thursday, the Herd trailed Rice by percentage points and league leader Southern Mississippi by a half-game in the standings.
For the rest of the college baseball world, this is craziness.
