Injured Marshall guard Michael Selby now sporting coach's whistle

Injured Marshall offensive lineman Michael Selby (54) has traded his helmet and pads for a hat and whistle as he’s helping coach his former teammates while recovering from season-ending shoulder surgery.

HUNTINGTON — Michael Selby appears to be sporting a sling, but it’s much more involved than that.

There’s a strap that encircles your waist, ingeniously holding against a pad that keeps your arm away from your torso.

In the process, your shoulder isn’t going anywhere, which is the whole idea. And you’re wearing that contraption to class, to wherever you sleep and everywhere else you go.
