Marshall’s starting pitcher Joshua Shapiro throws against West Virginia during an April 5 game in Charleston. Shapiro is not expected to start this weekend for the Thundering Herd but has been a reliable arm for coach Jeff Waggoner’s team this season.
Two of Marshall baseball coach Jeff Waggoner’s former starting pitchers are toiling in the major leagues, Dan Straily and Aaron Blair.
With that in mind, it’s not a surprise that starting pitching has as much to do with the Thundering Herd’s red-hot play over the last four weeks than anything else.
Waggoner, the 10th-year MU coach, is looking for that to continue this week and beyond.
