HUNTINGTON — The last time the Thundering Herd rolled up 90-or-more points in winning conference games in a row, current OKC Thunder Head Coach Billy Donovan was in his first year of being a head coach, at Marshall, and the Herd was in the Southern Conference. Those wins were over UT-Chattanooga (95-83), Appalachian State (93-80) and at VMI (112-87) — in the 1994-95 opening of the SoCon season for the Herd of Chris Gray, Tink Brown, Malik Hightower and Shawn Moore.
Saturday, Marshall had career performances by senior forward James Kelly and sophomore point guard Jon Elmore along with double-digit scoring by Ryan Taylor and Stevie Browning to lead the Marshall men’s basketball to a win over FIU, 99-81, on Saturday night at Cam Henderson Center.
