ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Chase Litton threw a 16-yard pass to Ryan Yurachek and Nick Smith kicked three field goals Saturday as Marshall hung on for a 16-10 victory over Connecticut at halftime of the St. Petersburg Bowl.
The Thundering Herd’s defense was the real start, as it held the Huskies for 213 total yards. UConn scored on a Ron Johnson 3-yard run in the first half and Bobby Puyol’s 52-yard field goal — which bounced high off the crossbard and fell over it.
That came with 2 seconds left in the third quarter, and gave UConn momentum.
