HOUSTON, Texas — Marshall men’s basketball has historians tearing through the record book and all-time series to see the last time Marshall won its first five games in a row in Conference USA without a loss, thanks to a second-consecutive road victory in Texas on Saturday at the Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas, beating Rice, 94-90.
Marshall’s best start in C-USA was 4-0 in 2011-12 and that team also had a five game win streak to open the season, so the record book tells us the last time Marshall started this well in any conference was 1996-97 when Greg White’s first MU team opened Southern Conference play 7-0 on the way to a 20-9 season, winning the North Division title and was the runner-up in the SoCon Tournament.
