HUNTINGTON — If there’s a question about center Nate Devers’ health, the bench-press record board at the Marshall weight room provides a hint.
Devers lifted his name to the top this summer.
“Actually, I just broke the all-time bench record at Marshall,” Devers said Wednesday, matter-of-factly. “[I lifted] 525. [Just-graduated] James Rouse had 500.”
Devers and left guard Jordan Dowrey sat out the spring with injuries, leaving Herd coaches to work on depth issues. Also, sixth-year tackle Clint Van Horn was restricted to light duty.
All are back, and the Thundering Herd offensive line is going full steam as the team enters its second day of “shells” Thursday.
