Former Marshall pitcher Dan Straily headed to Marlins in trade

Former Marshall pitcher Dan Straily, seen here pitching for the Cincinnati Reds, was traded to the Miami Marlins on Thursday for three minor leaguers.

MIAMI — The Miami Marlins gave up two of their top pitching prospects Thursday to acquire immediate help for the rotation.

Miami obtained right-hander Dan Straily from the Cincinnati Reds for three minor leaguers, a person familiar with the negotiations said. The person confirmed the trade to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because it had not yet been announced.

The Reds acquired right-handers Luis Castillo and Austin Brice, both highly regarded prospects in Miami’s thin system.
