The Marshall University men’s soccer team lost to Old Dominion University in overtime Wednesday. This result changes the overall record to 6-9-1 and the conference record to 1-4-1.
“That’s typical conference play here,” head coach Bob Gray said. “Sometimes the ball has to bounce your way, and it’s frustrating because I thought we should have put one away. There was some good soccer, just unfortunate someone had to lose.”
The game was slow to develop as both teams played conservatively, only testing each other in small attacks. The first real chance to score came 10 minutes into the match as Monarch defender Jimmy Filerman ripped a shot at the Marshall net, but a diving save was made by Thundering Herd goal keeper Trevor Clemens.
