A Round For Ratliff For Former Charlotte, Marshall Coach

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte 49ers’ football team will honor late assistant coach Phil Ratliff — who coached locally in Huntington at Spring Valley High School as well as at Marshall after an All-American career at guard with the Thundering Herd that including winning the 1992 I-AA National Championship — with an Aug. 1 golf outing at Rocky River Golf Club in Concord, N.C.

One year ago, the Charlotte 49er Football Program and many Herd fans lost a dear friend, Phil Ratliff. “Big Phil” was one of the founding fathers of the football program at Charlotte and his leadership was instrumental to the rapid rise to Division I college football.
