The 2026 season for Marquette men’s soccer effectively came to an end when Akron’s Sam Bunch scored in the 8th minute at Valley Fields on Friday night. The Golden Eagles needed to beat the #5 ranked Zips if they wanted to get into the Big East conference tournament, and Bunch’s goal eventually became the game winner in a 2-0 victory for the visitors.
Now, you’d like to not give up a goal in the 8th minute, but that doesn’t mean your game is over.
What does mean your game is over is when you manage just two shots in the entire first half AND Tyler Morck scores for Akron with less than four minutes to go before halftime to put you in a 2-0 hole against the #5 team in the country.
