Poor start spells doom for Golden Eagles

East Orange, N.J — Tabitha Richardson-Smith scored 20 points and led six players in double figures as host Seton Hall coasted past the Marquette women's basketball team, 99-68, on Sunday afternoon.

The Pirates (13-1, 3-0 Big East) sprinted to a 15-0 lead with Marquette missing its first nine shots. Marquette shot 27.8% in the first half.

The Golden Eagles had trouble defending inside as the Pirates dominated the paint, outscoring Marquette, 56-24.

Tiffany Jones had a double-double for Seton Hall with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Shakena Richardson had 15 points and eight assists.
