Marquette Women’s Soccer Opens Up Big East Play With A Win

On Sunday afternoon, Marquette women’s soccer got back in action for their first real game action in a month and first action of any kind since February 21st. Questions about rust were legitimate.

Well, at least until halftime, I suppose.

Katrina Wetherell scored in the 47th minute and Elsi Twombly provided the insurance in the 75th minute as Marquette knocked off DePaul, 2-0. It was the Big East opener for the Golden Eagles, who are now 1-0-0 in league play and 3-0-0 overall in this spring season.

It didn’t look like it was going to work out in Marquette’s favor in the first 45 minutes.
