Marquette fought back from allowing a penalty kick early in the second half and held on through two overtime sessions to earn a 1-1 draw with #22 Santa Clara on Thursday night.
Go figure, it was freshman Emily Hess making the service on a free kick that turned into Marquette’s lone goal in the 64th minute. I have to make mention of this because officially, Hess did not get credit for an assist here. Molly Pfeiffer did, though, as she headed the ball back towards the middle where senior midfielder Morgan Proffitt was there to head it home for her second goal in as many games.
