The Golden Eagles lost their first Big East match to Villanova last weekend and then destroyed Georgetown the next day. The loss to Nova is not the worst thing to happen. Nova is inside the top 70 teams in the country in terms of RPI, and it was on the road, so it’s not a super bad loss, just not ideal. However, if Marquette has dreams of a Big East regular season title dancing through their heads, they can’t lose another game until they travel to Omaha in early November. The team now starts the second part of the season and hosts Xavier and Butler this weekend.
