Marquette men’s basketball is lucky enough to have two former players participating in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. Jimmy Butler is participating as a member of the United States national team, while David Cubillian is a part of the Venezuelan national team.
The opening ceremonies in Brazil are on Friday, August 5th, and the men’s basketball tournament kicks off the very next day. Both the US and Venezuela are in Group A, so they’ll both be playing every other day for the first eight days of the Olympics.
There’s two groups for pool play, and the top four teams in each group will advance to the knockout round, which begins with the quarterfinals on Wednesday, August 17th.
