With the school year officially underway and men’s golf teams across the country getting a tournament or two under their belts, the Bushnell/Golfweek D-I Coaches Poll issued their first in-season poll of the year and HOLY CRAP MARQUETTE IS RANKED #22 IN THE COUNTRY.
It’s the first ever ranking for Marquette, which has had a golf team since 1924.
MU is one of seven teams not ranked in the preseason poll to vault their way into the top 25, led by Kentucky zooming their way up to #9. Marquette picked up a third place finish at the Badger Invitational by shooting a team score of 17-under-par to open the season, and then went out and won the Northern Intercollegiate tournament in their next outing.
