After a bit of shenanigans, Gordon Hayward agreed to leave the Utah Jazz and join the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. There’s only one problem: The Celtics don’t actually have the cap space to afford Hayward’s contract at this exact moment. This means that Boston is going to have to make a trade in order to fit the Butler University product into the roster.
This is all preamble to get around to the point that it seems very likely that former Marquette Golden Eagles star and 2012 Big East Player of the Year Jae Crowder will be a part of whatever trade the Celtics make.
