Golden Eagles lose a heartbreaker

Omaha, Neb. — It was a heartbreaking evening for the Marquette women's basketball team.

Natisha Hiedeman's layup attempt rolled off the rim as time expired and Crieghton escaped with a 83-81 victory over the Golden Eagles on Friday night at the DJ Sokol Arena.

The Golden Eagles (13-14, 8-8 Big East) blew a nine-point, third-quarter lead setting the stage for a wild finish.

Creighton (13-14, 7-8) took an 83-79 lead when Sydney Lamberty hit a pair of free throws with 10 seconds left.

Marquette's Amani Wilborn answered by scoring on a layup with 4 seconds to go to make it 83-81.
