Golden Eagles fall in Big East tournament

Chicago— After a step backward, the Marquette women's basketball team is ready to go forward.

Tiffany Jones collected a career-high 29 points and 18 rebounds while Aleesha Powell added 25 points as Seton Hall knocked off the Golden Eagles, 93-86, Sunday in the Big East tournament.

Marquette, which had one of the youngest teams in the nation, concluded the season with a 14-16 record. MU was 9-22 last season.

"We had some heavy hearts in the locker room," said Marquette coach Carolyn Kieger. "It was tough, but we know that we don't lose a single player, and we talked about the off-season, and we talked about getting back to work.
