On Wednesday night, Markus Howard torched Providence Friars for 52 points on 17-of-29 shooting, including an 11-for-19 mark from three-point range to drag Marquette Golden Eagles kicking and screaming to a 95-90 overtime win.
His 52 points broke the Marquette single game scoring record of 44 originally set in 1958 by Mike Moran and matched in 1990 by Tony Smith. However, that wasn’t the only record that Howard matched or broke on the night.
Howard is now Marquette’s record holder for field goals made in a game with 17 and he matched his own program record for three-pointers in a game with 11, set earlier this season against Chicago State.
