Wolves have turned down a payment structure proposed by Manchester United for the signing of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha.
However, the 26-year-old is still expected to make the move to Old Trafford this summer.
United are willing to meet the £62.5million release clause in Cunha's contract but were hoping to stagger the deal by paying in instalments of £12.5m a year across five seasons.
That proposal has been rejected by Wolves, who want the full amount paid before the summer of 2027 in line with the terms of the buyout clause.
It is understood United remain optimistic of completing the transfer, with Cunha excited by the prospect of becoming Ruben Amorim's biggest signing to date.
