Why Lindelof missed the Chelsea match

Prior to our trip to Stamford Bridge, the Swedish defender had played in all bar two league games this season: the away trip to Newcastle United in October and the home encounter with Burnley last month.

In his place, Ole selected Eric Bailly from the start against Chelsea, giving the Ivorian centre-back his first appearance of the campaign.

Speaking to MUTV before the game, Ole said:

“Victor has fallen ill. Eric has been champing at the bit recently.

“He’s played a couple of behind-closed-door games with the Reserves.
