Why Bayindir has still to make Reds debut

Ahead of the UEFA Champions League Group A clash with Galatasaray, Ten Hag was asked by a Turkish journalist in his press conference about the summer recruit from Fenerbahce.

Some observers expected the 25-year-old to make his debut in last week's cup clash with the Eagles, following Martin Dubravka's involvement in the early rounds of last term's successful run in the competition.

Onana kept his place and gained another clean sheet in the 3-0 victory, which has set up a fourth-round clash against our fellow 2022/23 finalists Newcastle United.

"You will see [if Bayindir gets a chance to play soon], but we chose against Crystal Palace in the League Cup to play Andre because both came new in and both have to adapt to the English standard," explained the boss.
