Under-18s: Everton 1 United 5

Angel Gomes came off the bench to hit a hat-trick as Manchester United's Under-18s recorded a first win of the Academy season in style by beating Everton 5-1 at Finch Farm.

The Reds surprisingly fell behind when Manasse Mampala scored for the Toffees but a dominant, attacking display could have yielded even more goals. Aidan Barlow was forced off after only 10 minutes due to a bad cut to his eye, after already having a good chance, and it allowed Gomes to enter the fray in his place.

The talented prospect, who turns 16 at the end of the month, captained and scored for England Under-17s earlier this week but looked lively from the outset and, after Indy Boonen twice went close, the Belgian created the leveller for Nishan Burkart with some sublime wing-play.
