Toone and Groenen start Olympics with victories

In the midday game, Jackie Groenen started for a Netherlands side that blew Zambia away, winning 10-3.

Toone was a late substitute for Team GB, playing their first game since London 2012. The side is mainly made up of English players, but it was the Scottish midfield pairing of Caroline Weir and particularly Kim Little who dominated the game, controlling it from the off.

Ellen White scored the two goals for England, the first-half goal a header and the 73rd-minute strike a volley from a Lucy Bronze cross.

Great Britain's win puts them top of Group E, which also features tournament hosts Japan.
