It's back. After three months of toy lions, thunder claps, political buffoonery, Clare Balding and cricket, the Premier League returns to our lives this weekend and, for many, it's a step into the unknown.

Top-flight teams have already spent in excess of £600million on players and some of the world's elite managers have taken up residence on these shores yet, until a ball is actually kicked in anger, no one has a clue how it is going to pan out.
