Sir Alex Ferguson receives standing ovation from Aberdeen fans as 80-year-old icon unveils statue in his honour to mark his trophy-laden spell during club's golden era

Aberdeen have unveiled a statue to pay honour to their greatest manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

The event was held at the Pittodrie Stadium and the sculpture was revealed to club officials as well as supporters.

Ferguson took charge of Aberdeen between 1978 and 1986 and won three league titles, four Scottish Cups, one League Cup, and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1983 before taking the helm at Manchester United.
