Schweinsteiger, who played for United between 2015 and 2017, discussed the recruitment of Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen and Antony when chatting to club reporter Mark Sullivan.
Martinez and Antony joined us from Erik ten Hag’s former club, Ajax, while Eriksen came on a free after a short spell at Brentford following his return from playing in Serie A.
Schweinsteiger believes Martinez’s ‘passion’ is one of the things that has endeared him to United fans so early on in his career here.
“He is South American, he has that passion!” he told us.
“But also, he is a very smart player, otherwise you can’t play that position [centre-back] with that size.
