Sancho continues to frustrate, Antony has been written off as a 'one-trick pony' and Ronaldo is missing sitters… so how will Man United unlock an Everton defence that has been transformed into the stingiest in the league?

Manchester United returned to winning ways but that wasn't enough to spare their players from a tongue-lashing on Thursday night.

Paul Scholes, a man who tells it how it is, described £85million man Antony as a 'one trick pony', slammed £73m Jadon Sancho for 'never running in behind' and said the back line remained shaky.

Erik ten Hag thought his wingers were 'static' and, in the end, United needed two substitutes - Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial - to see them past very modest opposition in Omonia Nicosia.

The three points should set United firmly on course for the Europa League knockout stages but the laboured manner of their victory doesn't bode well going forward.
