Ryan Giggs is the ninth member of Manchester United's Champions League winning side of 1998-99 to delve into management having taken the Wales job.

It was a successful start to life as a full-time manager for the 44-year-old - who was United's caretaker manager for four games after David Moyes' sacking in 2014 - as Wales thrashed China 6-0 on Thursday.

But history suggests that Sir Alex Ferguson's pupils do not fare well as managers, as Giggs' team-mates on that famous night in Barcelona will attest to.
