Ruud van Nistelrooy STEPS DOWN as PSV manager after claiming there was not enough support from within the club - despite the Man United legend winning the Dutch Cup and Super Cup in his sole season in charge

Ruud van Nistelrooy has confirmed that he will be leaving his role as PSV Eindhoven coach with immediate effect.

The former Manchester United striker will step down as PSV boss having held talks with the club's hierarchy on Tuesday evening.

According to the club, talks concluded with both parties prepared to wait until the clash with AZ Alkmaar on Sunday before continuing discussions.

However, the Dutch legend informed the club on Wednesday morning that he would not be continuing in his role and will depart with immediate effect, with the club hoping for a second-place finish with a win on Sunday against AZ Alkmaar.
