Ruud van Nistelrooy will become PSV's new manager in the summer as the Dutch club announced Roger Schmidt's successor on Wednesday.

The Manchester United legend, who scored 62 goals for PSV between 1998-2001, was coaching the club's reserve side but will take the top job at the end of the season, signing a three-year contract.

In a statement on the club website, the 45-year-old former Holland international said: 'I've been working towards this moment for years. I am proud and confident that I am ready to take on a leadership role at my club.
